# Getting Started

Learn how to navigate story and activity content.

This section is for New Lights with a quick tutorial on navigating various story-related quests and activities.

## Tutorial: A Guardian Rises

Watch the intro cutscene and complete the initial tutorial quest. At one point, you will see this screen:

**In general, I recommend completing this quest. It provides bits and pieces of lore, and introduces several core game systems. Skipping will instantly give you tutorial rewards, but it's best to earn it by playing the quest.**

Ultimately, it's up to you.

## Story Locations

Once you complete "A Guardian Rises" quest, you will have to familiarize yourself with the **Destinations** tab, also known as **The Director** in the community. This is where you choose your activities and destinations.

I'll show you how to access story-related activities and quests.

### Timeline

Read and experience previous expansion story & cutscenes. There will be some missions that you should do. It will be explained in [Critical Progression Route](/map/story/route.md).

### Lore Books

If you like some reading, Lore Books are your best friend on discovering hidden lore across the game.

Access the lore books in Collections → Lore.

Unlock various lore books by completing triumphs.

## Activities

### Planets

4 planets will have a giant icon. You can only access this planet after completing the initial campaign mission. I recommend you do it in order of the story by following the [Critical Progression Route](/map/story/route.md).

### Vanguard Ops

This node will be important when you play seasonal activities and exotic missions.

Fireteam Ops have four different types of activities: Fireteam, Pinnacle, Arena, and Solo.

* Fireteam Ops: 3-player activities (mostly Strikes and Seasonal, not matchmade except Quickplays).
* Pinnacle Ops: Exotic, crawl, and special missions (not matchmade).
* Arena Ops: 6-player matchmade activities (seasonal activities).

### Raids & Dungeons

This node allows you to access all the current available raids and dungeons.
